Trane Comm4 driver
Requirements:
  • JACE or equivalent from Honeywell, Distech, or any other OEM supplier.
  • Serial communication RS485 Port. Multiple external RS485 ports can be added to a JACE and all connected devices are covered by a single unlock code (license) for the MaxLine Comm4 driver, unlock is for JACE not individual port/network.
  • There is no fixed limitat to the maximum size of the Comm4 network, it depends on bandwidth and the JACE resource count.

Note: Wireless devices, wireless receivers and wireless sensor devices are not supported by this driver. This ifcCommFour driver only works as a single master and it cannot have another master in the same network. When a VAV has a wireless sensor (e.g. temperature sensor) the VAV will act both as a master and a slave. While giving a response (slave) into the ifcCommFour driver that runs in the JACE it will also be requesting (master) the data from the wireless sensor, this will cause problems with the communication traffic and stability of the communication timing and response.

We recommend that a VAV having a wireless sensor to use instead a hardwired temperature sensor - this driver will then operate correctly.

Driver supports automatic device and points detection using Niagara Device manager and Points Manager.
